Original Monologues

THE VOICES PROJECT is about discovering new writers and working with them to create unforgettable characters with stories to be told. We then provide a platform for these new voices, on stage, on page, on film and online.

Each year, 10 monologues are produced by the participants of the Fresh Ink National Studio, and these go on to form THE VOICES PROJECT stage show. Year 1 of THE VOICES PROJECT saw the stage show TELL IT LIKE IT ISN’T, with Year 2′s show being THE ONE SURE THING.

Every year we will choose two of the ten monologues, and put them on film, retaining the unique voice of the original monologue, but bringing to them a cinematic sensibility. There will also be a third monologue filmed every year, which will be the winner of our annual online monologue competition (this year, it’s LOVE BYTES. Click here for more info.)

For Year 1, meet Dana and Adam, created by Joanna Erskine and Jessica Bellamy at the 2010 Fresh Ink National Studio and performed as part of THE VOICES PROJECT 2011 theatre show, TELL IT LIKE IT ISN’T.

Dana has learned to be silent. She doesn’t want to talk about that night. But when her best friend lies about the tragic accident, she decides she has something to say.

LITTLE LOVE by Jessica Bellamy
